About Haraba Association
Haraba Association for Community Development and Cultural Initiatives in the Negev
Haraba Association was established in response to the urgent need to strengthen the social and economic presence of Bedouin Arabs in the Negev, with a vision for growth and meaningful impact.
This community faces numerous challenges stemming from the social, political, and economic changes it has undergone over the past decades. In light of these realities, Haraba adopts modern theories of social change that emphasize gradual and sustainable transformation. These include the community empowerment theory, which highlights the importance of building local capacities and strengthening cultural identity, and the social capital theory, which holds that building strong networks of trust and cooperation enhances community development.
